5 Ways to Find Motivation When You Feel Under the Weather

Motivation

No one feels great all the time. Whether it’s sickness or you are just having a bad day, there are times when you aren’t having it. Even when you do feel under the weather, there are still ways to find some motivation, even if that motivation is just to go and get dressed.

1. Break Big Tasks into Smaller Ones

When you aren’t feeling great, big tasks feel impossible to accomplish. When you are faced with this, the best thing that you can do is break a big goal into smaller ones. Tell yourself to get just a small part of the task done. If that’s all you can handle right now, that’s fine.

Sometimes, when you complete smaller goals, you are more motivated to complete more small goals. Those add up and eventually, you will be accomplishing a lot even when you don’t feel great.

2. Reward Yourself

Give yourself small rewards when you complete the tasks you don’t feel like doing. Keep some candy around or reward yourself with 5 minutes of social media scrolling. That way, you have something to look forward to at the end of every task.

3. Make Your Environment More Comfortable

Having the right environment can make all the difference when it comes to your motivation. Making your space comfortable can ease your mind and make you more focused. Grab your favorite drink, play some fun music, and switch up your location if you need to. Do what you need to make your space one that you can work well in.

4. Talk to Someone

Sometimes, we need a boost from a friend or coworker to get us back in the working headspace. Take a few minutes to chat with one of your coworkers. You can tell them about what you want to accomplish that day (which will also hold you accountable,) tell them about what you want to do when you get home, or even just talk about how you are doing.

Talking to someone can make you feel a lot better.

5. Take a Nap

When all else fails, it’s time to take a nap. If you aren’t feeling good, then a nap will help your body do what it needs to do to get better.

Taking a nap is proven to boost your brain power and give you more energy. Even if you have to take a nap at your desk, it can be worth it to give you motivation when you wake up.
